Watch out! This Lolita does not need a man!
A woman's nature possesses the true wonder of holding her true might hidden within her delicate features that perceive her as soft. The deep history of women that has entrapped them within the stereotypes of being motherly and fragile has been disproved by its modern generation of feminism and independence, ensuring them of a life where men are not a requirement for them to thrive. One of these strong women is Ms. Lolita Poblete, a 53-year-old business owner who has been getting through the hearts of her customers through their stomachs with their Japanese cakes.
Ms. Poblete, a resident from Calumpang Cerca, Indang, has been vending her crowd-favorite Japanese cakes since she learned the recipe from her fellow entrepreneurs in 2008. Since then, she has been going around places from Zapote, Naic, Maragondon, Ternate, Alfonso, and Tagaytay before currently residing in Indang where she continues selling her hit pastries around Cavite State University and the local town market. She claims that her tasty pastries are a hit towards students and children due to its sweetness and its affordability, currently selling 3 mini-cakes at a price of ₱20, with available flavors of chocolate and cheese filling.
Her education background seems to be a remarkable anecdote to tell, as she has enrolled into Computer and Programming courses in Tanza and Manila, despite only taking them for one year. Still, she does not let her atypical academic journey hinder her bright mind in business. However, within her successful and booming business is a secret that holds her might as an independent woman behind them. The history of her building the business in its early stages contains her and her former husband who she is currently separated with. Despite this, Ms. Poblete is content with her life as a single mother and is proud of having to earn her own income without the help of her only child.
Despite her history and situations from the past, Lolita has never failed to show a positive winning attitude, as she claims that her business never saw a downfall since its establishment 16 years ago. Someone like Lolita believes in pure hard work and that it results in fruitful blessings in return.
"Parang nabubuhay lang tayo sa mundo para magtrabaho... pero after naman ng work ay enjoy naman."
It is fascinating and refreshing to witness for a woman named Lolita carry her name with such independence and liberty despite the tarnishing attachment of it in modern literature, and that she is aware of her gifts and how to cherish its fruits. Lolita serves as an inspiration to everyone beyond little girls and women, and she can prove that she can raise the bar for everyone — and can also do it flawlessly.
